Mitade
“Mitade” is a pun with the Portuguese words “mito”» (myth) and “metade” (half), but more than anything, it’s a sound, a sensation, and even a writing mistake between Portuguese and Spanish! Toninho revisits some of his compositions by mixing styles together : Bossa-Nova becomes Samba-Reggae, Reggae becomes Xote, and if you take a closer look, you’ll notice some Afro, Funk, and Samba, and even Bahia Blues. An album to listen to and dance to… That’s up to you. “I’ve always written my songs as if I were a traveler without a map, and I started to make albums the same way, with total random motivations.”
